The arbitration hearing of the 16 fired Generations actors will take place next week, the CCMA said on Tuesday.

"The matter has been scheduled for conciliation/arbitration and has been set down for 14 October at 9am," said Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration spokeswoman Laura Mseme.

"In accordance with the CCMA practice and procedure all parties to the dispute have been notified of the hearing date."

The CCMA had received a referral from the Generations Actors Guild (Gag) relating to unfair dismissal. The 16 were fired on August 18 for going on strike over a wage dispute.

Gag said: "Throughout this process, we have engaged with our former employer and been clear about the fact that we are open to negotiation and discussions -- but we are resolute in our commitment to transforming unfair industry practices."
