Economic Freedom Fighters MPs Julius Malema and Floyd Shivambu have yet again been instructed to leave the Parliament.

This time for saying that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has “blood on his hands” in reference to the 34 miners who were killed at Marikana in August last year.

Malema said that Ramaphosa should stop saying that everyone must take responsibility over the deaths of the miners because he is one who needs to take responsibility since he “instigated” the deaths by writing emails.

“Why is the Deputy President not accepting that you are responsible for the 34 miners who died?, he asked.

“That you killed them [miners] because you were driven by profit and the interest to defend your shares as the economic security guard in the economy of South Africa. Stop this thing that we must all take responsibility,” said Malema.

He continued to say: “We can’t take responsibility for the things we don’t know, you are the one who wrote emails and instigated the killing of 34 people and I think you are responsible and sitting there your hands have got blood of innocent people who died in Marikana.”

Despite calls by Speaker Baleka Mbete requesting Malema to withdraw his statements, the EFF leader continued to address Ramaphosa saying: “It is important for you to accept the responsibility.”

Malema did not respond to the request by the speaker and said that “the Deputy President’s hands have got a lot of blood, blood of 34 innocent mineworkers.”

Malema refused to withdraw his remarks and his fellow MP Floyd Shivambu came to his defence asking for the rule the speaker is relying on for requesting Malema to withdraw his statement that “Cyril is a murderer”.

“He is a murderer of workers in Marikana and that is a fact,” maintained Shivambu.

After failing to withdraw their remarks, they were both requested to vacate the National Assembly.
