Kagiso police investigating two murders

Police in Kagiso, on the West Rand, launched a manhunt on Monday following two murders in the township.

A man in the Soul City informal settlement in Kagiso had his throat slit on Saturday, while another man was hijacked and killed in Extension Six, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said in a statement.

Next to the Soul City victim, police found a Nokia cellphone, a pack of cigarettes and a blue hat. No arrests had been made.

The hijacked man's body was found in the street. His girlfriend told police they were sitting in the man's parked silver Toyota when two armed men appeared and forced them out. They shot the man in the upper body and drove off with the car.
