Two injured in PMB hit and runs

"Hit and runs are common on this road because there are usually many pedestrians walking along it and some sections of the road aren't well lit," advanced life support paramedic Emmah Boreham said.

Two people have been injured in separate hit-and-run incidents in the Pietermaritzburg area, paramedics said on Sunday.

In the first, a 26-year-old woman was found lying on Greytown Road in Northdale in a critical condition, ER24 said.

She had been found by pedestrians and it looked as though she had been hit by a vehicle then dragged underneath it.

"Hit and runs are common on this road because there are usually many pedestrians walking along it and some sections of the road aren't well lit," advanced life support paramedic Emmah Boreham said.

The second incident was early on Sunday morning on College Road, Pelham, involving a 30-year-old man.

He was found with a deep gash on his head and had lost at least half a litre of blood.

Both were taken to hospital for further treatment.
