Cezanne Visser, the former advocate who became known as "Advocate Barbie", has discovered new meaning in her life in Pretoria Central Prison, said her mother Susan Lemmer.

"She has adapted well, established incredible relationships in jail and broadened her life experience irrevocably," Lemmer said on Thursday.

"Cezanne has experienced Christian forgiveness, even though she has not yet had the opportunity to ask her victims for forgiveness."

On Thursday, Visser was part of a dance group that performed at the ceremonial opening of the Department of Correctional Service's national soccer tournament, called Afcon Behind Bars.

The event was opened by Tom Moyane, the national commissioner of correctional services.

Lemmer was adamant that her daughter had been fully rehabilitated, even though the parole board recently, for the second time, rejected her daughter's request to convert the remainder of her sentence to corrective supervision.

The parole board decided Visser was still not adequately rehabilitated, after the Pretoria High Court ordered them to re-examine her request.

Visser is presently serving a seven-year jail term for indecently assaulting young girls and women, the manufacture and possession of child pornography, and defrauding a children's home.
