Refuse collectors arrested for soliciting money

Two Pikitup staff members have been arrested in Johannesburg for soliciting donations, the waste management agency said

The two staff members worked in waste removal and were found to be soliciting for Christmas donations in Parkhurst, Pikitup said in a statement.

They were arrested for loitering.

“Pikitup... would once again like to remind the citizens of Joburg not to give out Christmas gifts to waste removal staff this festive season,” it said.

The workers do get Christmas bonuses, the company has previously explained.
