SEXY Inkaba actress Samkelo Ndlovu's excitement about her new Mini Cooper S convertible was shortlived.

Ndlovu, who recently flaunted her car on social networks, decided to take it for a spin to Alexandra last Sunday, where she partly grew up, to show it off to her family.

Unfortunately, when she got to the busy intersection of Roosevelt and 20th Avenue in Alexandra the car stalled on her. Several attempts to start the car failed and this caused a hectic traffic jam.

Ndlovu confirmed to Sowetan that her car inexplicably switched off when she went to visit her grandmother.

"I mean, this is my first car and I'm still getting used to driving it and trying to interpret particular sounds to decide if there's a problem," Ndlovu said.

"It was a simple question of the car overheating. I had earlier taken it to a garage for a water refill and they hadn't closed the water tank properly," she said.

Ndlovu said she was grateful that her insurance company had come to her rescue by helping her to restart it.

BMW South Africa group automotive communications manager Edward Makwana said what happened with Ndlovu's Mini Cooper was an isolated problem.

"Firstly, we need to establish the condition of the car if it's pre-owned or new and the validity of the car's motorplan and warranty," Makwana explained.

"I urge Ndlovu to contact the Mini customer care centre to ascertain any technical issues with the car - if there are any issues with it."

Makwana rubbished claims that Ndlovu was the latest ambassador of the popular car brand.

"Ndlovu is not a Mini Cooper ambassador," Makwana said.

The sparkling actress is also known for her ultra-modern fashion sense.
