EIGHT children died and six were critically injured when their taxi collided with a car, KwaZulu-Natal police said yesterday.
"The taxi was transporting young children from a function [on Saturday] night when it collided with another car and veered into a river," Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.
The accident happened between Bergville and Ladysmith after 6pm.
The children died of severe injuries and drowning, he said.
