THE four Mamelodi boys who drowned in a dam on a City of Tshwane's property, last weekend, will be buried on Sunday, with assistance from the community and the municipality.

The deceased are Remember Mosoma, 11, a Grade 4 pupil at Buladikgoro Primary School; Nkosinathi Masilela, 9, a Grade 3 pupil at Rethakgetse Primary School; Mpho Mamabolo, 9, a Grade 2 pupil at Emasangweni Primary School and his cousin Nthapeleng Laka, 11, a Grade 5 pupil at Koos Matli Primary School.

The boys had gone on a hunting expedition on Saturday. Their bodies were retrieved from a dam at the City of Tshwane's Baviaanspoort waste water works plant, by divers on Sunday morning.

The owner of Mashile Funeral Services in Mamelodi West, Senex Mashile, has offered to bury the four free of charge.

The joint funeral service will be held at the Stanza Bopape Community Hall and they will be buried at the Heatherly Cemetery in Mamelodi East.

Mashile said another local undertaker, Phokwane Funeral Parlour, has offered the families transport while the City of Tshwane has donated the graves and flowers.

Meanwhile, Remember's father has blamed the municipality for the tragic deaths.

Shaun Nesane, 40, told Sowetan shortly before yesterday's memorial service at the Stanza Bopape Community Hall that when he took relatives to the scene of the drowning on Wednesday "we found workers busy putting up a fence around the dam. They were also draining the water".

" It is after we threatened legal action that they realised there was a need to fence off the dam . It is too late," he said.
