Dewani accused linked to killer car

ANOTHER witness has linked Xolile Mngeni, the man accused of pulling the trigger on honeymoon bride Anni Dewani, to the car in which she died.

The woman testified in the Cape Town High Court yesterday that she saw Mngeni with shuttle operator Zola Tongo in Khayelitsha on the day Anni was murdered.

She was shot dead while on honeymoon with husband Shrien Dewani in Cape Town on November 13, 2010.

Warrant Officer Johan Hanekom, a fingerprint expert, also testified this week that a set of fingerprints lifted from Tongo's car matched Mngeni's.

Mngeni was arrested after Tongo implicated him and confessed that Shrien Dewani had offered him R15000 to find hitmen to kill Anni. Tongo entered into a plea agreement with the state and is serving a 18-year jail sentence.
