Mom in dock over childrens' deaths

A NORTHERN Cape woman accused of killing her five children has appeared in the Pampierstad Magistrate's Court

National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Frank Lesenyego said said the matter was postponed to tomorrow.

Venolia Siwa, 35, is accused of drowning her children, aged between 2 and 13, when she thought a lethal concoction she had given them was not working fast enough.

She was arrested last year when the bodies were found at a house in Lower Majeakgoro village.

Siwa spent 30 days in a mental institution in January for evaluation.

In March the docket was handed to the director of public prosecutions for a decision.
