Serial killer case continues

ALLEGED serial rapist and murderer John Mohorosi had co-operated with the police and appeared relaxed when he was arrested last year.

The Bloemfontein High Court heard yesterday that Mohorosi was also willing to reveal "other things" to the police soon after his arrest.

Mohorosi is facing several charges of murder, rape and robbery.

Captain Paseka Mojaki told the court he was part of the team investigating the disappearance of women in Free State.

Mojaki said they arrested Mohorosi at his house in Mangaung Phase 6 on May 20 2011.

His wife was found in possession of one of the victims' cellphone, which she claimed was given to her by Mohorosi.

"The accused said he was given the cellphone by a friend in Ladybrand. He failed to explain where his friend resided," said Mojaki.

He said two days after Mohorosi was arrested, he visited him at Bloemspruit police station where he told him his rights.

"Along the way (on their way from the hospital), Mohorosi said he knew about the bodies that were found in the veld. He said he wanted to point out the crime scenes."

Mohorosi has pleaded not guilty to four counts of rape, four of murder and two of robbery. It is alleged that he went on a raping spree between May 2010 and April 2011.

On December 23 2010 in the same area, police recovered the decomposed body of Mantoa Mohapi, who had disappeared eight days earlier.

Police found the decomposed body of 15-year-old Palesa Thakho on March 2 last year.
