TWO Nigerian nationals pretending to be motor mechanics expecting the delivery of a motor vehicle spare part from the United Kingdom were arrested together with two women for dealing in drugs.

The arrest of the group followed a trap that was set up by the Hawks in Limpopo on Friday afternoon.

The drugs were sent in a wrapped box as a parcel from the UK and stashed in a new headlamp for a Porsche car.

Police spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the arrest took place at the Mogoto post office in Zebediela.

He said the Nigerian men, aged 33 and 38, were arrested together with a 24-year-old South African woman and her sister aged 21.

Mulaudzi said the Hawks had received information about a suspicious parcel that had been posted from Ocean Queen, St Vincent, in the UK. Police tracked and intercepted the parcel, a headlamp in a box.

On discovering that the lamp contained cocaine the police controlled its delivery after noting that it was addressed to the 21-year-old woman.

Mulaudzi said shortly after the parcel arrived at the post office. the two South African sisters alighted from a Nissan Ikon sedan and entered the post office to collect it.

They were apprehended by members of the Hawks who had been monitoring them.

"The two men were waiting outside," said Mulaudzi.

As soon as the women stepped outside the building with the parcel police pounced on them.

"The men waiting outside tried to run but our members caught them. All four suspects were arrested on the spot and we recovered cocaine with an estimated street value of R100000 stashed inside the headlight," he said.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate's Court today facing charges of possession and dealing in cocaine.

Mulaudzi said investigations are continuing and that more arrests are imminent.
