A MAN, according to the police a Zimbabwean national, is on the run after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on a Marble Hall farm in Mpumalanga.

The incident happened on Monday morning.

Police spokesman Constable Lethunya Mmuroa said yesterday the man apparently felt jilted after discovering that the woman had an affair with a Mozambican man on the same farm.

The woman, identified as Maria Matlala, 39, of Mamatonya village near Zebediela, was stabbed underneath her left breast with a sharp object.

Mmuroa said they were summoned to a scene near the Swartkop road at about 8.30am and when they arrived there found the woman's body lying in a pool of blood.

He said one of the witnesses told them the man wore a white T-shirt and pair of blue trousers.

Mmuroa said the body of the deceased was taken to a government mortuary in the area for a postmortem.
