Men salute fairer sex

IN CELEBRATION of Women's Day, 150 men from the bustling community of Sydenham in Durban donned women's shoes and walked a brave mile around their local soccer pitch.

After many laughs and blisters, the men said they wanted to show respect to and acknowledgment for the amazing women in their lives.

Community leader Father Eric Gallant said sometimes the church perpetuated the notion that women should submit to their husbands, and with physical, sexual and emotional abuse prevalent in the community, every initiative to show solidarity and support for women counted.
