Mathale in Italy to attract investors

LIMPOPO Premier Cassel Mathale has landed in Italy with a government delegation to explore trade opportunities in that country

The delegation left on Saturday and will be return home on July 3.

The mission aims to attract foreign investments to the province through the establishment of trade and economic relations with Italy.

Mathale's spokesperson, Phuti Mosomane, said the mission would concentrate on investment opportunities in Limpopo for Italian businesspeople, "while also strengthening existing economic relations during the Italian Group for Global Partnership investor conference".

He said the delegation would also explore ways of developing small, medium and micro enterprises with the help of Italy.

"Among other issues that will be discussed during the visit will be the establishment of a Food Park by the Italian Industrial Association as well as an action plan for the implementation of the twinning agreement entered into by the city of Reggio Emilia and the city of Polokwane."

He said the delegation included MEC for economic development, environment and tourism Pitsi Moloto, MEC of agriculture Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba and Capricorn district municipality executive mayor Lawrence Mapoulo.

Education MEC Namane Masemola has been appointed acting premier for the duration of Mathale's visit to Italy.
