Cocaine bust in hair salon raid

A LIMPOPO woman appeared briefly in the Phalaborwa magistrate's court yesterday after she was found in possession of cocaine.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto said Caroline Mpofu, 27, a salon owner in Phalaborwa, was arrested on Friday and charged with possession of and dealing in drugs.

The police said cocaine worth R13,000 was found in Mpofu's possession when she was arrested.

"Mpofu was arrested at her hair salon following information supplied by the intelligence structures of the police," Otto said.

"Members of the dog unit joined in searching the salon and the team confiscated 28 tablets of crack cocaine as well as cocaine powder in various other forms."

Cash amounting to R2,000 and $22 was also confiscated.

Mpofu was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on April 4.
