Fiona Coyne's brother found dead

The brother of "Weakest Link" quizmaster Fiona Coyne has been found dead in his home, also an apparent suicide

Bruce Coyne, 58, who was the eldest of the Coyne children, was discovered by his wife in a spare room at his Rietondale home in Pretoria yesterday.

The family said he took the loss of Fiona badly.

"Bruce and Fiona were devoted to each other and Bruce was deeply sorrowed by the death of his baby sister some months ago," spokesman Mixael de Kock said.

Another family member Samantha Coyne said Bruce made people believe that anything was possible “as long as you kept remembering  how to believe”.

“It is hard to accept that he is no longer near me but I know that he’ll always be close to me as he is part of who I am,” she said of her uncle.

The well-known graphic designer had no children.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Duane Lightfoot said the wife alerted a neighbour after reading a letter addressed to her by Bruce.

No foul play was suspected and an inquest docket was opened, he said in a statement.

Lightfoot was not immediately available for further comment.

Fiona committed suicide in August in her Fish Hoek home. She was  found by her housekeeper.
