Mohlala's 'killer' bail postponed

THE bail application of the fifth suspect in the murder of Mbombela municipality speaker Jimmy Mohlala has been postponed, police in Mpumalanga said yesterday

Captain Leonard Hlathi said: "The Kabokweni magistrate's court postponed the case to November 5 because the suspect did not bring an attorney."

The man, in his 30s, first appeared in court on October 7 after being arrested at his hiding place in Matsulu on October 4, Hlathi said.

He is the alleged trigger-puller in Mohlala's murder. His arrest follows that of four other people who were arrested on October 2 in connection with the murder.

They appeared in the same court on October 4 and were granted bail of R10000 each. Their bail will be extended until all five appear together.

Mohlala was shot dead outside his home in January last year following his exposure of irregularities in tenders issued for the construction of the R1billion Mbombela Stadium for the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
