We prayed with Kebble - Nassif

SECURITY boss Clinton Nassif prayed with mining magnate Brett Kebble on the day he was shot dead in Melrose in September 2005, the high court in Johannesburg heard yesterday.

Nassif, the man who said he assisted Kebble to commit suicide, said he went to Kebble's house with boxer Mikey Schultz on the afternoon of September 27.

"I told him that the person who was with me was going to help him out," said Nassif's statement, read by defence counsel Laurence Hodes.

He was referring to Schultz, the man who admitted to pulling the trigger in the Kebble murder.

"They were going to meet at the specific location at the bird sanctuary. I said it was fine and we said a prayer together," Nassif said.

Hodes asked Nassif what prayer he said with Kebble. He wanted to know what prayer one would say with a man who was about to die.

Nassif could not recall.
