Tourism project blocked
AN environmental group in Limpopo Dzomo la Mupo has obtained an urgent interdict from the Thohoyandou High Court to stop the Tshivhase Development Foundation from proceeding with the construction of holiday resorts in the sacred area of the Phiphidi Waterfalls.
The Ramunangwi clan and leadership of the foundation have been involved in a battle over the use of the land. The land boasts waterfalls and attracts international and local holidaymakers.
Judge S Manny granted the group an interim interdict pending the applicant's further dispute in court after 20 days.
The clan said it had sought legal action because it believed its religious practices were being violated and undermined.
