GOSPEL queen Rebecca Malope's childhood will be captured on celluloid when musician Chicco Sello Twala starts filming her life story in less than 10 days.

"It has taken a lot of planning to come this far. We have cast three young girls of various ages to play baby Rebecca, Rebecca the teenager, a successful Rebecca in her 30s and finally her true self towards the end of the film.

"We trace her journey from Nelspruit, where she was born, as she and her older sister,Cynthia steal away from an abusive father," Twala explained. "By then they were working as farm labourers. Their mother had already run away from their father."

Twala said the film would motivate young girls.

"It will show them that if they want something badly they must work hard to make it happen. Rebecca's is a rags-to-riches story," He said. "They came to Johannesburg where they knew no one.

They lived with strangers and accepted hand-me-downs. T

"Their lives changed dramatically when Rebecca won the Shell Road To Fametalent search. She was approached by Sizwe Zako, who worked hard to turn her into a star."

Twala says filming will take place in Nelspruit, Pretoria, Evaton and Johannesburg.

An excited Malope (pictured) said: "I am really proud that Chicco is doing this film. I want my fans to know that everything is possible with God."
