RAPPER Young Nations has worked his way to the top of the local hip-hop scene. Along the way he accomplished feats that other rappers only dream about.

Having met Tupac and shared the stage with Ice Cube and Coolio, he still finds that he draws most of his inspiration from his late father, Professor Mazisi Kunene.

Born in exile, Zosukuma Kunene's career is the result of a confluence of the influence of his father's teachings and the growth of hip-hop.

His father's dedication to fighting apartheid often meant that Young Nations and his sibling would get to meet refugees from Africa and were exposed to the plight of Africans.

Young Nations, who played American Football and basketball, put some soccer balls to the test .

He first tried the My Team South Africa soccer ball.

"This one makes great use of the South African flag's colours. It feels quite solid, which is good," he said.

Next he tried the Flag Strip ball.

"The idea of putting flags on the ball is good, but they could have done it better. I like how they highlighted the South African flag though."

Next up is the PVC Matt Flag soccer ball.

"I like how they used the lines of the ball to accentuate the flags. It's made of good strong leather, too."

The last ball Young Nations tried is the Dimple soccer ball.

"This is more of a beginners soccer ball. I don't like that it's made of rubber instead of leather. The rubber will make it bounce a lot so I'd say this one is fine for children.

Of all the balls, the best is the My Team South Africa. It's got flair."
