Best Wishes

WE are certain that there will be those who are happy to see Tito Mboweni's back. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since Mboweni was named eighth governor of the Reserve Bank.

WE are certain that there will be those who are happy to see Tito Mboweni's back. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since Mboweni was named eighth governor of the Reserve Bank.

Yesterday he hosted his last media conference, where he announced that there would be no change in the repo rate.

Throughout his tenure his decisions had not pleased everybody. The political left was once upset with him when he refused to come out of the monetary policy meeting to accept a memorandum from the unions.

He was not exactly the darling of the media either. He banned photographers at the post-monetary policy meeting press briefings. He also took umbrage at being called by his first name.

For all his quirks and idiosyncrasies, failures and successes, we believe that he did the best job he knew how.

We wish him well.
