Bad hair day for new face of Sunsilk
Hlubi Mboya, who has just been appointed the face of Sunsilk, raised eyebrows when she rocked up at the launch with extensions.
The reaction stemmed from the fact that as the product ambassador, she should have used her hair exclusively so that she could demonstrate the effectiveness of the product.
Mboya confessed to being ecstatic about her role as Sunsilk ambassador.
"First and foremost, I was not wearing a weave, but what is called a tract.
"It's an extension of my natural hair, and I did it for the benefit of the media. I had to look good, so why not go big?" she asked rhetorically.
"As ambassador of a hair product, my role is to look fantastic all the time. So, whether I am wearing an extension or not is irrelevant.
"As long as I continue passing on the message that when your hair is great, the world is your oyster."
Elaborating, Mboya said the campaign is about the fact that when your hair looks good, you are on top of the world - regardless of the hairstyle you are wearing at that moment.
"It's great to be aligned with stars like the late Lebo Mathosa, Marylin Monroe, Madonna and Shakira. It's an honour to be associated with high-profile women like them who are, or were, lovers of life!
"The campaign is aimed at any 20-something girl who makes her dream a reality, is determined, is a force to be reckoned with and is a firm believer of that.
"Your hair is your best tool for nonverbal communication, your ultimate fashion statement," she said. She said she was chosen for her love of life, determination and go-getting spirit - a woman who has learnt from her mistakes.
