Family and friends of the late Prince Kupi attended his memorial service at the Baseline in Newtown, Johannesburg, yesterday.
Celebrities who gathered for Kupi's memorial service included, among others, Selaelo Selota, Gloria Bosman and Judith Sephuma.
Speakers eulogised the musician as a talented man who lost his life at a young age.
Kupi, 36, died in a horror crash on Heidelberg Road, Johannesburg, early on Sunday.
He was killed with his wife, theatre actress Zandile Ngcobo, 32, after the vehicle in which they were travelling overturned.
Family and friends of Ngcobo were also in attendance.
Bosman paid an emotional tribute to Kupi with a moving song.
In his address, Don Khaile of Sheer Sounds spoke of the deep sense of loss that the music industry had suffered.
"A tragedy of this nature is beyond our comprehension.
"We have lost a dedicated artist and talented musician," he said.
The service was also marked by a powerful plea from Pastor Benjamin Dube who urged people not to cry for Kupi because "only the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. But God came so we can have life in abundance. God knows why he has taken Prince from us".
Stephen Sack of Gauteng's department of arts, culture, science and technology also paid tribute to the late musician and said he knew Kupi for a long time.
"He lived a full life. It is sad that he passed away at such a young age. We will sadly miss him."
TV actor and musician Buyile Mdladla remembered Kupi as a "humble and down-to-earth musician".
Kupi distinguished himself as a brilliant and talented guitarist. He played with top artists in the country, including Sibongile Khumalo, Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu and Tlale Makhene.
The funeral service will be held at Funda Centre in Diepkloof, Soweto, tomorrow at 8am. The cortege leaves for Westpark Cemetery at 11am.
