Some top South African runners will fight for the R20 000 prize during the Nedbank Matha Series in Seshego on Saturday .

As is the norm at all road running activities offering mouth-watering prizes, a strong contingent from neighbouring Zimbabwe will also take part.

Norman Dlomo, who is in the SA marathon team to the Beijing Olympics in August, yesterday confirmed that he will take part in the Seshego race.

Others include former SA champion Boy Soke, Zambia's Linus Chintali, George Majaji of Zimbabwe, Lebo and Lebohang Phalula.

Kakata Maponyane, Athletics Limpopo president said: "It is all systems go, we are ready to host a successful event.

" We'll also use it to unveil some of our new products.

"Limpopo has a rich history of producing some of the greatest runners of all time in South African sport, many of whom have won major international competitions."

Some of the big names from Limpopo are Hendrick Ramaala, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, Johannes Kekana, Samson Ngoepe, Violet Raseboya, Azwindini Lukhwareni, Rammy and David Tsebe.

Maponyane has urged residents to support the race.

"Residents of Soweto have made the Soweto Marathon such a unique race because they have adopted it and are proud of it. We hope the same will happen in Seshego."

Athletes can enter the Nedbank Matha Series on Friday from 9am to 10pm at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Call Limpopo Athletics offices on 082-455- 7244 for enquiries.
