Bay United registered their second consecutive win in the National First Division on Saturday and their general manager, Senzo Mazingisa, now believes they are on the right track to challenge for promotion this season.

United beat FC Cape Town 1-0 in their league clash in Port Elizabeth.

The win moved them from fourth position to third on the eight-team Coastal Stream log with seven points from four matches.

United have quality players in their midst and Mazingisa could be forgiven for being so positive about their chances this term.

The experience of the likes of Arthur Bartman, Tampungu Dikete, Duran Francis, Linos Chalwe, Jonas Mavimbela, Gareth Ncaca and Jimmy Zakazaka could be enough to take them to the Premiership at the end of the season.

"Obviously, we are all excited by the recent wins and are going to work hard to win our next match," said Mazingisa yesterday.

Strugglers Western Province United are still without a win following their 1-all draw against homeboys Hanover Park at Vygieskraal on Saturday.

The stalemate saw United remain second from the bottom of the log with two points from a possible 12.

The team is mentored by Colin Gie, but club chairman George Scalcoyannis hinted to Sowetan yesterday that "we are going to make changes in the technical team this week".

Elsewhere, Maritzburg United are still on top of the Coastal Stream in spite of sharing the spoils 1-1 with Ikapa Sporting at Erica Park Stadium on Saturday.

The Team of Choice, relegated from the top flight at the end of last season, have 10 points from four outings.

Nathi Lions stayed second on the log after they also drew 1-1 with neighbours Durban Stars at Chatsworth Stadium.

Dynamos stamped their authority on the Inland Stream when they pipped the winless Witbank Spurs 2-1 in Witbank on Saturday.

The Dynamites have 12 points from four matches and University of Pretoria are second on seven. AmaTuks lost 1-0 to Kenny Ndlazi's GaRankuwa United in Tshwane on Friday night.

A second-half goal by Costa Khaiseb gave FC AK a 1-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces in Eldorado Park on Saturday.
