Woman hasn't smiled for 40 years to prevent wrinkles

50-year-old Tess Christian has decided not to smile because she believes keeping a 'poker' face is the key to keeping her youthful appearance.

Gatherings with family and friends or even the birth of her daughter were void of any visible happiness apart from a  slight smirk..

Some may say she has taken vanity to the extreme but she feels that her approach to fighting the effects of ageing is more natural than plastic surgery or botox.

"I don’t have wrinkles because I have trained myself to control my facial muscles. Everyone asks if I’ve had Botox, but I haven’t, and I know that it’s thanks to the fact I haven’t laughed or smiled since I was a teenager. My dedication has paid off, I don’t have a single line on my face," said Tess.

Last year Kim Kardashian posted a picture of herself laughing in defence of accusations that she doesn't smile but admitted that she tries not to smile because it causes wrinkles.

Dermatologist Dr Nick Lowe says not smiling can be an effective anti-ageing technique, while other health professionals feel that 'laughter is the best medicine'

"Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress," Helpguide
