A MODELLING career is on the cards for a schoolteacher from Thohoyandou, Limpopo, who was crowned Mrs Congeniality at the Mrs Commonwealth pageant.

Israel Mulaudzi, 42, a married mother of four, stood tall after getting this nod.

Mulaudzi, who is studying towards a PhD at the University of Venda, was one of 13 contestants who reached the finals of the South Africa chapter of the pageant at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, on Friday night.

The pageant has three segments: Miss Teen Commonwealth, Miss Commonwealth, and Mrs Commonwealth.

Mulaudzi won the hearts of the audience by showing her athletic side when she did the splits during the swimsuit competition.

"I love this title. It is the people who voted, which means I am the people's choice," she said.

Mulaudzi is also a gospel singer with five albums .

As for the competition, she is certain she will be back next year - and hopefully win. The winner of Mrs Commonwealth was Marinda Herbst. Other winners on the night were 26-year-old Ngawethu Siphiwo (Miss Commonwealth) and 16-year-old Daniela Gasser (Miss Teen Commonwealth).
