Tlale gets Pastor Sono's blessing

SOUTH African Fashion ace David Tlale has done what has never been done in Celebville - invited a man of God to a party

Tlale, who launched a high-market store on Sunday at Michelangelo Towers Mall in Sandton, Johannesburg, surprised everyone when he announced that his pastor, Musa Sono of the Grace Bible Church, was going to bless his store.

The announcement caused tongues to wag in a room filled with fashionistas, celebrities and gay socialites.

Some people commended Tlale for inviting Sono to pray in his shop, while others criticised him for inviting a pastor to an ungodly setting where alcohol was served.

Sono prayed for Tlale's shop to be profitable and successful and commended him for putting God first in his business endeavours.

Tlale has been a member of the Grace Bible Church for the past year and a half.

He is among celebrities such as Sophie Ndaba, Thuli Thabethe and Sonia Sedibe, who worship at the church.

Tlale's ready-to-wear clothes in the shop start from R4,800 for a blouse.

His stand-alone store joins some of the finest restaurants and shops in the most exclusive mall in Johannesburg.

Tlale said: "I am very grateful for the support South Africans have given me.

"I am thankful to my staff who work so hard to produce garments of high quality.

"Without their support I wouldn't be where I am."

Tlale jetted off to the United States yesterday for the coming New York Fashion Week, where he will showcase his work alongside world fashion heavyweights. The event runs from September 8 to 15.
