Set for great wines and fun

IF YOU cannot get hold of a friend over this weekend from Friday until Sunday, especially if he is the sort that likes fine things such as good wine, I mean really good wine, good food and good company, I could suggest where you might look for him

He is most likely to be found at the Dome, Northgate, north of Joburg, where those among us who simply love our wine will be happily congregating.

Some of my colleagues and I recently had the privilege of pre-tasting some of the wines that will be part of this weekend's Wine Show Joburg.

After tasting about three bottles of some of the finest, I remember confiding in one of my colleagues that I could not wait to be present at this event.

The point is that wine lovers can look forward to three days of great wines, fabulous food and loads of fun at The Wine Show Joburg in association with Dawn Wing from Friday to Sunday at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate.

The exhibitors' list reads like the A-Z of the South African wine industry, with most of the country's prime wine producing regions being represented.

Show visitors will be able to taste, try and buy some of the best wines in the country and explore well-known and new labels. Producers vary from big cellars, co-operative producers to small boutique wineries and independent winemakers.

Sowetan, The Times, SundayWorld and Sunday Times are media sponsors of the event.
