Giving everyone something to enjoy

BELINDA Moloto is a Moletjie, Limpopo-born musician who gives vibrancy in her music while spreading the word of God.

Her latest album, Otla Utlwa, promises to bless and soothe deeply wounded hearts.

Moloto is among the gospel musicians who have emerged with captivating gospel sounds that lends a fresh taste and vitality to local music.

She can sing both high and low notes with ease. Her latest album is a potpourri offering you various traditional gospel styles.

"I did not want to confine my music. My aim is to give everyone something to enjoy. Again I don't want to be put into a box. My album offers zion, apostle and ordinary traditional music."

Dished out in Sepedi and isiZulu, her songs are about the complexities of life. The music in the album is composed by Moloto with the help of Vusi Nkosi, who is also a producer.

"My music reflects the current situation. Through my music I also offer spiritual guidance. But In this one I encourage patience among the people.

People need to have faith in God. They must know that whatever they want God will answer."

Moloto who started singing in 1998 at school imitating musicians such as Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope and others.

She says she knew she belonged on the music scene but did not know where to go.

Things changed for the better in 2002 when she met the late Mkhukhu singer, Mojeremane, who took her under his wing.

"He said I had potential to be a great singer. I worked with him until he died."
