SABC1 youth drama series Skeem Saam actor Mlungisi Mathe was lucky to escape unscathed when he and a group of friends were hijacked.
The popular actor, who plays Emkay in the youth drama, and his friends were left shaken when a group of about four armed robbers pounced on them outside a friend's home on Sunday night on the East Rand.
The KwaZulu-Natal-born actor - who earlier this year released his first maskandi song under new stage name Skandi Kid - said the incident only took less than a minute.
"Just when I was about to start the car these guys appeared from nowhere and ordered us to lie down. They searched us and took our phones, wallets and some of our belongings. There were about four or five of them in two cars," he said.
"It has not sunk in yet for me. I don't even know how I feel, all I know is that the car is gone."
Police spokesman Captain Mega Ndobe said a case of hijacking was opened in Katlehong.
"According to details given to us by the complainant, he and a group of friends were sitting in a car which was parked outside the driveway at one of the friends' houses.
"He said four men came to them and ordered them out of the car."
Ndobe said according to the statement, two of the four robbers were armed with guns. The robbers made off with Mathe's red Golf 7.
"None of the occupants of the [stolen] car was hurt. The suspects made off with the car but the complainant and his friends were not harmed during the incident," he said.
Skeem Saam publicist Percy Vilakazi said: "The show will make arrangements to help him any way we can in terms of transport and emotional support."
