Sunday World is reporting that controversial musician Penny Penny has escaped being liable for a R1.5 million defamation lawsuit filed by Cassper Nyovest’s mother.

Cassper’s mother Muzuki Phoolo sought legal action following reports which emerged last year alleging that Penny Penny was claiming to be the rapper’s father.

However‚ Penny Penny has since disputed the report claiming to have been “misquoted.”

According to Sunday World the musician escaped the defamation lawsuit‚ after the publication that published the story took full responsibility‚ and reached an out of court settlement with Cassper’s mom.

The publication further reports that Muzuki has apparently been offered R100 000 and her legal costs will also be paid.

“I spoke to the lawyer of Cassper’s mother and she told me that the magazine has offered to pay her and to apologise for the story‚” Penny Penny told the paper.

The lawyer who represented Cassper’s mother also apparently confirmed the out of court settlement to the paper.

“Yes‚ I can confirm we received an offer‚ but I’m still to consult with my client for instructions. But remember my client indicated from the beginning that she is not after money‚ but wanted to clear her name‚” Connie Phakedi‚ of Phakedi Attorneys said.

Cassper Nyovest has been unavailable for comment.
