Chante Moore back to wow her Mzansi fans

THE first time she was here, about a year ago, she helped launch the career of Zahara, who has since become a music phenomenon.

US singing sensation Chante Moore will be returning to South Africa for a performance and a motivational talk at the Women's Mentorship Conference on April 14.

She will also perform at a concert in that evening. Both the concert and the conference will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Moore will speak at this conference on "Reclaiming Your Power".

This second visit in less than a year will most probably rekindle fond memories of how Zahara performed as a guest artist at Moore's concert.

"The subject of Reclaiming Your Power is a topic close to the hearts of many women and, indeed, to Moore herself.

A single mom who was abused as a child, and who has gone through two difficult divorces, she has triumphed against the odds to become one of the most popular gospel singers in the world today.

"Chante, who is also a spokeswoman for Sportygirl Fitness, believes that owning one's personal power revolves around a healthy, focused and motivated mind in a healthy body," says Zimkitha Rodolo, managing director of the organisers, a leading black-owned events and investment company Masibulele Trading.

Moore occupies a special space with the South African public because when she came last year, she had the distinction of being the first high-profile musician to introduce Zahara to the mainstream music industry by having her perform as a guest at the SABC's M Studios.

Zahara took the opportunity to almost steal the show from the main guest herself when she performed to thunderous applause from, and for the first time showing the local music industry what a few months later became a sensational music phenomenon.

"South African speakers will, of course, feature strongly, and these will include Kate Bapela, the chief communication officer at the IEC, motivational speaker Zelda McCauley, who is also the former wife of Rhema Church's Pastor Ray McCauley, and Sonia Booth, among many others," Rodolo said.
