DJ ZINHLE Jiyane is planing to take her students out of their comfort zone at her new academy.

Jiyane, who with Nomdeni Mdaki co-owns Fuse Academy, a school for female DJs, has launched a mentorship programme called Sassy House Experience (SHE).

With SHE, Jiyane says she plans to assist many young female DJs to break into the industry.

"The concept is an extension of Fuse. The aim is to introduce newly qualified female DJs to the industry. I will use my expertise to nurture and prepare them for the mainstream industry. We will teach you how to market and brand yourself as a DJ."

Jiyane says she started the initiative because many young female DJs are struggling to get exposure.

"A lot of girls have struggle to get into the industry. Like any other career, there is a learnership and internship that prepares you for the next step. When you are groomed and nurtured it becomes easy to get a job because you have an experience."

Mdaki says they have already spotted some talent.

"Miss Pru, whose real name is Prudence Sebalo, from the Vaal has shown great commitment and perseverance on her journey to becoming a professional DJ. She was the perfect candidate with which to launch the academy."

Jiyane says she will be touring Gauteng spinning the discs in various places with Miss Pru. The tour started on Thursday and ends on February 26. Sebalo said: "It is an exciting opportunity for me to be part of the concept. I think the idea will help a lot of people. I am grateful for this opportunity."
