BUDDING musician DJ Madenza Lash of Soweto says DJs Cleo and Mzi of Nababantwana fame have stolen his song, Mr Provider.

Madenza (real name Dennis Rasebotja) claimed the chart-topping hit Provider by the duo was similar to his track Mr Provider, that was originally released in 2009 by Miriri Productions.

He complained on his facebook page that "DJ Cleo and DJ Mzi chopped my song Mr Provider. That's my song bros. Watch de space."

He told Sowetan that he was going to sue the two if they refused to acknowledge that the concept was his.

He said the song came to his attention on Friday while he was watching SABC1's Live.

"I was watching Live on Friday when the song was played," he said. "I could not believe it. Soon after that I received a number of calls from fans and friends asking me what was happening.

"I am very furious because Mr Provider is my concept. They just chopped a few things here and there. If they think they are going to get away with this because they are more popular than I am, they are in for something else. I will sue them."

But DJ Mzi and DJ Cleo claimed this was Rasebotja's attempt at a claim to fame.

An angry DJ Mzi said he has never heard about Rasebotja or his song for that matter. "It is very sad that he claims we stole his concept when no one even knows about him," he said.

"This guy is trying to ride on the hype that is out there with Provider. It is like someone claiming that Hlokoloza is his. How many songs are out there about Hlokoloza for example? I am not going to entertain him."

DJ Cleo said the song was not his but DJ Mzi's. But he called Rasebotja "a chance r".

"I was just featured by DJ Mzi. Talk to me about my album Eskhaleni 8," he said.
