METRO FM's nomination list for 2011 music awards has caused confusion within the Twitter community, with some fans saying kwaito kingpin Kabelo Mabalane's new album had made it onto the nominee's list.

But Metro FM moved in quick yesterday to clear the air around the confusion over Mabalane's new release, Immortal Vol.1.

The station's public relations manager, Happy Ngidi, said the musician's new album failed to meet the Metro FM cut off date for nomination, which was September 27.

"No, Kabelo is not part of the nominees as his album did not make the cut-off date." Ngidi said. "I think the confusion happened because, like other industry players, the musician was invited and was at the party.

"We invite everyone in the industry, including those that have not been nominated. Another reason is that people might have confused Kabelo with Kabomo, who has been nominated."

In the meantime Mabalane's new album is a hit with tweeters going full blast in praise of this kwaito artist.

"Immortal Vol.1 rocks for days. I must have for summer and beyond," Gail Nkoane tweeted.

Newcomer Zahara has come out strongly in the nominations, having snatched five nominations for her debut album Loliwe - including Best album Produced, Best Newcomer, Song of the year and Best female artist categories - sharing the same number of five nominations with AKA.

The nominees were announced on Wednesday at the Pyramids Conference Centre, Johannesburg.
