THEIR dream of running a television production house didn't take long to become a reality and the Ramaphakela siblings have vowed to make the most of it.

Siblings Tshepo, Katleho and Rethabile Ramaphakela are the proud owners of Burnt Onion Productions and the producers of the SABC1 sitcom My Perfect Family.

The sitcom airs at 7pm on Mondays.

The trio, from Diepkloof, Soweto, established their company three years ago.

"We started the company in 2008 and in the same year we were commissioned to produce a 13-episode sitcom by the SABC.

"It's a great show with a great cast, including Baby Cele and Lilian Dube. The show is about a 10-year-old boy whose parents have divorced and he is trying to get them back together," Katleho says.

Katleho is an actor himself and his latest TV appearance was as psycho Sifiso Sibeko on Isidingo.

Asked if he would be making a return to the popular daily soapie, he responded by saying "watch this space".

Rethabile, the youngest of the trio, says their experience in the entertainment industry helped prepare them for running a successful company.

"Katleho and I have been on TV for most of our lives and it seemed ideal to have our own company," Rethabile said.

Katleho and Rethabile have more than 10 years experience between them, but Tshepo, the eldest in the family, is a newcomer to the industry.

"I worked as a human resource officer for one of the banks and I was used to doing a 9 to 5 job," he says.

"It was such a shock for me when we started the company because we worked very long hours but it has been exciting."

The trio intend to produce more shows and movies.

Former Bafana midfielder Doctor Khumalo made a guest appearance in last night's episode.
