Out to dance their butts off

DANCE Your Butt Off is back for its second season on your television screens.

The show started on July 26 and is flighted on SABC1. It has returned in a stylish format featuring bubbly host Relebogile Mabotja and celebrity judges Somizi Mhlongo and Khabonina Qubeka. The winner of this super-sized competition takes home R100000 and will be determined by the weight he or she has lost during the competition.

The contestants weigh anything between 79.3kg to a ridiculous 160kg. The line up of contestants includes Generations actor, Mandla Gaduka, Sam Hlophe, DJ Sharnee Caltriers, Meredith Jones, Banele Mbongwe, Debbie Joubert, Natasha Buyane, Tiisetso Napo and Sabelo Xaba who will all be dancing their butts off.

SABC1 publicity manager Vukile Madlala says: "Season two promises to be tougher and more demanding, but also more entertaining and informative since healthy eating and lifestyle tips from the pros will be incorporated into the episodes.

"And all the while the 'cheat fridge' remains tantalisingly within reach."

Mhlongo says there will be no more Mr Nice Guy or Ms Nice Girl when it comes to assessing their dance routines.

He adds: "You must raise the bar. We'll be very strict on technique and showmanship."

And Qubeka says: "We want people to bring out the true dancer in them."
