Kwasa king cries foul

SELF-STYLED King of Kwasa Kwasa Stephen "Malo a botsheba" Sefofa is accusing the organisers of the annual Marula Festival of favouritism only two weeks before the event takes place in Phalaborwa, Limpopo

Sefofa was allegedly excluded from the line-up of artists who will perform because he is expensive. He said the organisers undermined artists from Limpopo.

"They pay artists from Limpopo peanuts and those based in Gauteng generously. I charge R55,000, while artists from Gauteng charge R70,000 to R90,000," he said.

Sefofa, who has been struggling to get into the Marula Festival for the past five years, said he had been excluded from the final line-up in favour of artists from Gauteng.

Artists who are expected to entertain include Candy, Malatji and Liquideep.

Sefofa was in the news last year when he staged a sit-in at the offices of the department of sports, arts and culture in Polokwane, demanding to be included in the festival line-up.

Department of economic affairs, environment and tourism spokesperson Joshua Kwapa said they could not include Sefofa in the line-up "because he demanded too much money".
