Eatery with exotic teas and smoothies

SOMETHING harrowing but somewhat sweet happened to me recently when I visited Black Cherry Restaurant at Silverstars casino in Krugersdorp.

I mean even when manager Delia Beyeneveldt confessed to me that the eatery had a taste for everyone, little did I know that I would have a craving for tea like a pregnant woman craving for soil.

So craving for tea that Beyneveldt felt sorry for me and gave me some which I could prepare for myself when I get home. I don't think it was the sight of gambling folks that could have triggered such a craving.

You see, the restaurant has a coffee shop that boasts some special tea I have never smelt or tasted in my living memory.

In this eatery you are spoilt with choice for tea. They even have the green Chinese tea.

For those who are not into tea or Babylon waters, there is a juice bar where you are afforded the privilege to choose the kind of fruit juice you would want. You also have the liberty to see it being prepared.

At this bar, you also have the privilege to choose what you want in your sandwich.

"Sometimes guests want to see what goes into the sandwich or have the opportunity to choose what they want in it. At this bar they get both," says the manager.

She says most of her clients are not people who come to gamble but rather people who enjoy a day or night out. The eatery can accommodate 45 seated guests which makes it intimate.

It is open from 6am till 1am between Sunday and Thursday and closes at 2am on Friday and Saturday.

Going through their menu is like reading some James Hadley Chase romantic novels. Some of their sandwiches are named after planets.

For example you have what they call Mars which is basically one deli, two cheese and two vegetables or Saturn made up of two deli, two cheese and four vegetables.

Now, I am not a sandwich fan so I somewhat browsed through that section and went straight to the main meal and settled for fish and chips.

If you are into smoothies there is galore in here for you. Or if you prefer savoury pancakes or tortillas wraps.
