It's Sifiso Ncwane's time

GOSPEL sensation Sifiso Ncwane says this time around he will scoop the Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Album and producer and Best Male Artist categories.

He won the Classic of all Times Award in last year's prestigious SABC Gospel Crown Awards.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, a few weeks before the nomination lines close, Ncwane said he was optimistic that the people would declare him the gospel artist of the moment.

"I am at a time in my life when everything is going according to plan," he said. "I can comfortably say all is well. People love my music.

"I am confident that the awards are going to be the cherry on top to complement my hard work."

Immediately after scooping the Gospel Crown Award last year Ncwane released his 9th hit album called Baba Ngiyavuma. It contains the smash hit Phakama Nkosi. The song became popular when it was used as a cellphone ring tone.

"The album did very well," he said. "It is probably my bestselling album ever. It is surely an award winning song of the year."

Ncwane owes his success to former boss and good friend Tsepo Nzimande.

He said Nzimande contributed to his success and taught him the ins and outs of the music business.

He now runs his own Sifiso Ncwane Music production Company, which records and markets gospel music. It has a number of artists on its books.

Nomination lines close on October 12.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban.
