South Africa's wheat crop rose by one-third to 1.9 million tonnes in the 2016 season, the largest harvest in six years, as improved rainfall boosted yields, a government agency said on Friday.

This season's crop is about 100,000 tonnes larger than 2 million tonnes reaped in 2011, the Crop Estimates Committee said in its final assessment of the harvest.
