We gave away points - Chiefs

Pretoria University never earned two points, Kaizer Chiefs dropped them, admitted Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela after his side's 1-1 Absa Premiership draw against AmaTuks at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

The virus Chiefs apparently caught in Port Elizabeth that saw one of the league's most efficient teams become flat overnight in a 1-0 MTN8 final defeat to Ajax Cape Town seemingly followed them back to Johannesburg.

Following a stunning 4-1 PSL victory against SuperSport United a fortnight ago, Chiefs have hit a mini-slump they will want to shake themselves out of before tomorrow's league rematch against Ajax at Cape Town Stadium.

Amakhosi were efficient enough, earning a 1-0 first-half lead against AmaTuks, courtesy of Bernard Parker's strike but took their foot off the gas alarmingly to allow Tebogo Monyai to equalise in the second half.

Komphela said he was looking for a big improvement against the Urban Warriors.

"Against Ajax in the cup final, you would say we were on a two. Against Tuks we were on two-and-a-half - it was up a notch. But Chiefs belongs at 10."

Ajax lost 3-2 away against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night, but only after Anthony Laffor's 93rd-minute winner.

The game against the Urban Warriors tomorrow starts at 8.15pm.
