Generations - The Legacy actress and house music rookie Thuli Phongolo staged a self-destructive drama at the Royal Gardens Festival at Nandoni Dam near Thohoyandou in Limpopo on Sunday morning.

Phongolo, aka Thuli P, refused to perform at the popular fest after the organisers delayed her performance due to logistical glitches.

Thuli P was supposed to have showcased her talent just before 4am on Sunday morning.

But the organisers asked her to perform a few hours later and she agreed.

To their shock, Thuli P threw a tantrum and demanded to perform a few minutes after her original performance time had passed.

The DJ acted surprised when contacted about it.

"I don't know what you are talking about, so I can't help you with your story," she said

An artist who witnessed the fracas said Sjava and Lady Zamar were on stage when Thuli P demanded to perform.

"One of the organisers, Julius Mekwa, tried to calm her down but she fobbed him off and told him she was leaving and she left."

The artist claimed Thuli P became nervous after Metro FM DJ Lerato Kganyago, who performed before her, rocked the crowd with infectious deep house ditties.

"I think she chickened out because Lerato delivered a splendid performance there. Remember people wanted to see who was the best between her, Lady Zamar and Lerato," said the musician.

Another singer, who also didn't want to be named, confirmed that Thuli P turned yellow after Kganyago's lit performance and hid behind the delayed schedule as an excuse to not strut her stuff.

"Her refusal to perform was suicidal. She was supposed to have waited and perform later like other artists but she left. Lerato Kganyago, Sjava, and Miss Pru also performed hours after their scheduled performance times. She is killing her brand and she is not going anywhere with this kind of attitude," said the artist.

Festival organiser Shandu Nesangani confirmed Thuli P disappointed her fans. "It is common knowledge and part of the dynamics of every gig that sometimes the festival runs behind schedule. We informed all the artists and they understood and performed because there were about 25000 people there and 30 artists. You can image how big the show was. Unfortunately Thuli P did not perform and left after complaining about time."
