Molangoane must apologise

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela says if Joseph Molangoane wants to return to the team he needs to make a public apology.

The skilful attacking midfielder was on Kaizer Chiefs' radar at the start of the season but a deal has not come to fruition.

Malesela said Molangoane's fate at the club would be known as soon as a meeting had been scheduled with him in the next 10 days. The coach said he had spoken with club boss Siviwe "Chippa" Mpengesi about the issue.

"I think if Joseph, pictured, was to come back here, he needs to make a formal apology to the chairman, the team, to myself and the supporters of Chippa United.

"I was never angry [at him]. The fact is that the boy openly said he would rather stop playing football than be at Chippa. That's how bad it was. You can imagine how big an insult that is," Malesela said.

"When I came here, he was about to be put on transfer. We helped him find himself and I think the bill of appre- ciation should have been sent.

"If the prodigal son was welcomed back home by his father, who are we not to do that? Not that we are desperate for him, it's just being human and understanding that people make mistakes."

l Chippa will look to get over their cup disappoin- tment and continue their unbeaten Absa Premiership run when they meet rookies Baroka at Peter Mokaba Stadium tonight (7.30pm).
