Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says he has no intention to leave his post amid the team's struggles for form.

Speaking after their 1-1 draw with Platinum Stars in an Absa Premiership clash on Saturday at Orlando Stadium, Tinkler insisted that he can turn things around with the Buccaneers.

"I said this before; I'm not a quitter . there is no chance of me resigning," Tinkler reacted after Issa Sarr's first-half opener was cancelled out by Ndumiso Mabena early in the second half.

"The journey [as Pirates coach] has been good and bad, that's part of the learning curve. It is the reality of being a coach. You've got to be able to take the good with the bad, and obviously right now I would prefer to be in a better situation than we are in terms of our league form."

Tinkler, though, was non-committal when asked about where his team could realistically finish on the log by the end of the season.

"I want to finish as high as possible. I believe it and the players believe it. It can be one result that can turn it around.

"I must continue believing, because the way I portray myself is the way the players would respond - that's very important."

Tinkler's counterpart at Stars Cavin Johnson referred to his charges as "dark horses" in the race for the title.

"There is Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and, of course, you have your dark horses like [Black] Aces. Then you have your dark, dark, dark horse like Platinum Stars," Johnson said.
