Dankwae latest Wits recruit

BIDVEST Wits are continuing their buying spree, with top Niger defender Kofi Dankwae from Tunisian giants Esperance their latest acquisition.

The Ghana-born Dankwae has been on Wits' radar for some time after he impressed the club's technical staff during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Dankwae is likely to make his debut for the Clever Boys during the MTN8 semifinal first-leg clash against Platinum Stars next week. He is seen as a perfect replacement for former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena, who has left the club after one season.

Wits co-director and team manager George Mogotsi said Dankwae has been offered a two-year deal with an option to renew it for a further season.

"Kofi has been training with us while the process of registering him with the Premier Soccer League was under way. We have also submitted his work permit to the Department of Home Affairs," explained Mogotsi yesterday.

"Kofi is a great player, he's got the pace and experience. We are confident he will add value in the team. The good thing is that he is now familiar with our set-up."

Other big-name players who have joined Wits this season include Matthew Booth, Keamogetse Wolff, Moeneeb Josephs, Musa Bilankulu and Benjani Mwaruwari.
